Historic Voter Turnout in Bihar as 2025 Assembly Elections Conclude Peacefully
Patna: The 2025 Bihar Assembly elections witnessed a record-breaking voter turnout, marking one of the most active and peaceful elections in the state’s history. Both phases of polling saw enthusiastic participation from citizens across rural and urban regions, reflecting a growing political awareness and desire for change among the people of Bihar.
According to official data released by election authorities, the overall voter turnout reached around 67%, the highest ever recorded in the state. What stood out even more was the remarkable participation of women voters, whose turnout exceeded that of men by a significant margin. Many districts reported over 70% participation from women, indicating a powerful shift in Bihar’s electoral dynamics.
The first phase of polling, held across constituencies in northern and central Bihar, proceeded smoothly with a strong turnout. The second phase—covering districts in southern and eastern parts of the state—saw even higher participation, despite early morning fog and long queues at several polling stations.
Election officials credited the high participation to several measures: improved arrangements for elderly and disabled voters, increased security presence, and better management at polling stations. Additionally, widespread voter-awareness campaigns helped encourage first-time voters to step out and exercise their rights.
Political analysts believe this unprecedented turnout could lead to significant surprises when results are declared. The election is considered a crucial contest between the ruling alliance and the opposition, with both sides claiming strong public support. The higher participation of women is expected to play a decisive role in shaping the final outcome.
Despite the high stakes, the election remained largely peaceful across the state. No major incidents of violence or disturbance were reported, and voting continued smoothly at nearly all booths. Officials thanked the people of Bihar for cooperating and maintaining order throughout the polling process.
As Bihar now awaits the results, the historic turnout has set the stage for what could be one of the most transformative elections in recent years.
